Pulaski County Schools (PCS) underwent the process for re-accreditation this school year, and the results are glowing.  PCS scored more than 50 points higher than the normal range.  The accrediting agency, AdvancED*, uses their Index of Education Quality (IEQ) to measure academic opportunities and support systems of the 36,000 schools and districts in its global network.  A normal IEQ ranges 278-283; PCS scored 335.

These results are evidence of a strong school system that is valued and supported by students, staff, parents, and community.  The auditors repeatedly praised the district for involvement, communication, and collaboration with students, parents, community members, businesses, and other organizations. The report identified more areas of strength, including academic support programs, regular academic performance analysis, and academic goal-setting with students.

We’ll take a moment to congratulate each other on a job well done, but then quickly make plans for improvement.  The accreditation report identifies three areas for growth, which include increasing creativity and problem-solving opportunities in instruction, aligning curriculum and instruction to new state standards (effective 2020-2021), and increasing integration of technology into instruction.  We strive for continuous improvement, and these goals will be included in next year’s Comprehensive District Improvement Plan.
